This short supply is specially witnessed in horticulture and animal husbandry segments, which includes perishable food items such as vegetables, milk and meat, among others. According to poll conducted by FoodProcessing360, 75% of the respondents are of the view that increase in the production of perishable food items will stabilise the food inflation rates, whereas the remaining 25% did not agree with the same.
Measures to be implemented In order to improve production of perishable food items, the government should introduce more cold chains. This will prevent wastage by helping farmers to store perishable food items for a longer period of time.
