The Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) was established under the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act, 1985, by the Government of India (GoI). The authority replaced the Processed Food Export Promotion Council (PFEPC).
APEDA is responsible for export promotion and development of agricultural and processed food. Headquartered in New Delhi, the authority has five regional offices and 13 virtual offices.
The major functions of APEDA are as follows:
The chairman of the authority is appointed by the Central government. APEDA publishes a newsletter, namely APEX and various other manuals related to agriculture and food processing industry. |
