Beverage major Coca-Cola plans to take its energy drink Burn to markets in major cities, expanding beyond its current markets of Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore. The high-sugar, high-caffeine drink has gained popularity with the company’s target audience—youngsters and music enthusiasts. Commercially packed in 250 ml cans at Rs 75, Burn is available at pubs, night clubs, restaurants and premium hotels in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. With Burn, the company aims to capture a major part of the country’s energy drink market. This market is estimated to be growing at a rate of 50–55 per cent annually. Burn has already made its presence felt in around 76 countries.
