Indian food processing units need to rise

As per the latest release by the Government of India, Indian food processing units require an investment of $28 billion to give the industry a boost of 8–10 percent.



According to the Food Processing Industries, Government of India, the present technological level of Indian food processing units is low. In addition, only 2.2 percent of fruit and vegetables, produced in India, are processed, while 90 percent of the cereals are processed. In the past five years, the food processing sector has received an FDI of $15 billion.

Moreover, an additional 3.4 million people need to be added to the trained workforce for the already flourishing food sector.
