Fourth World Congress on Conservation Agriculture

The 4th World Congress on Conservation Agriculture is to be jointly organised by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS) from February 4 to 9, 2009 in New Delhi. The Congress will strive to assemble in one place researchers, farmers, extension-workers, policy planners, corporate leaders and non-governmental organisations to pave the way forward for innovations in agriculture for accomplishing enhanced efficiency, equity and environment.
 
The Congress is being co-sponsored by the International Centre for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas (ICARDA), the Rice-Wheat Consortia (RWC), the Food and Agriculture Organisation of United Nations (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the Indian Society of Soil Science (ISSS) and the Indian Society of Agricultural Economics (ISAE).  
 
The 4th World Congress is likely to evaluate global R&D efforts, isolate region, situation and system specific issues, prepare foundations for partnerships and policy setting and advocate methods for maximum utilisation of natural resources in the quest to realise superior output and profitability.
 
The discussions through the Congress would upgrade guidelines and develop strategies to endorse conservation agriculture. The expected outcomes of the Congress include: (i) documentation of global R&D efforts in conservation agriculture; (ii) measurement of the benefits of conservation agriculture and (iii) identification of region specific up-scaling issues.
 
The inaugural function and all plenary sessions of the 4th World Congress on Conservation Agriculture on 4 February 2009 will be held at:
